Difference between digital proofs and on-camera proofs in printing
In the printing process, "digital sample" and "on the machine sample" refers to two different proofing methods, they are in the accuracy, effect and use of the scene there is a clear difference.
1. Digital sample
digital sample usually use digital printers for rapid output, mainly used in printing before the rapid display of the design effect. Due to the digital equipment printing, digital sample color presentation and the actual printing may have deviations. Its advantages are low cost, fast sample, suitable for small quantities or preliminary confirmation of the design. Digital sample can help customers and designers to understand the overall layout, patterns and text effects, but due to the use of different color systems, can not fully reproduce the color on the printing machine.
2. On-machine sample
on-machine sample refers to the official printing press with the official printing materials, inks and equipment for the trial print sample. This method can truly reflect the color, material, and effect of the final print, so the color reproduction and printing effect are more accurate. On-machine samples are usually used for final confirmation, especially in the printing of strict color requirements, large batches or advanced customization. Due to the need to use formal equipment and materials, the cost of the sample is higher, but can maximize the guarantee that the printing effect meets the customer's expectations.
Summarize
Digital samples are suitable for initial design confirmation, low cost and fast speed; while on-machine samples are used for final confirmation and real reproduction of the final effect, with high precision but high cost. The choice of which method depends on the project budget, time and requirements for the final printing effect.
